If you’ve never been to Texas, or were born there but left too young to remember, or ever vaguely thought you really ought to see the place before you die, this little package will bring you up to speed. Wayland Long leaves you feeling like you spent your whole life there and know all about it. You will also understand why, having been born there, he is not much inclined to cross the state line other than to participate in cutting horse competitions, of which he is a two time world champion. These books are destined for the Library of Congress where scholars in the next century and the one after that will ponder and puzzle over them. But right now they belong on your bookshelf in hard copy.
Mind you, Wayland has been too busy living the Texas life -- hunting up and winning the trust of great cutting horses, getting mixed up with thrilling women in smoky bars where there is loud country music and a poker game in the back room, and even now and then shot at by some damn fool for one reason or other -- to have acquired the slick craftsmanship of professional writers. That matters little because he is blessed with natural story telling instincts that no amount of money can buy and no university has ever figured out how to teach. That is what makes these pages fly and his books impossible to put down. Many a crafted writer would trade in a heartbeat what he studied to learn about writing for what Wayland was born with.
This little package delivers the whole shot for your reading pleasure and is a rare bargain at $9.99. When you finish, you’ll want the lovely hard copy editions for your bookshelf as a reminder of why you need to get to Texas someday. If you already live there, they will reassure you each morning that you’re still in Texas, and nobody abducted you across the state line during the night.

Heck of a book. Made me want to move back to Texas. Travelled those same roads up and down the rodeo trail.
Great read! Was hooked from the first chapter! Enjoyed that the horse parts were written with knowledge and not someone pretending to know what they were writing about! Good job!
Quite entertaining,...just like the great state of Texas. This book is why everyone wants to be a Texan. Seems like it ought to be a movie.
Worth the purchase. I really wasn't sure, but I am enjoying these books and will read anything else this author has written. If you like historical fiction about Cowboys and Texas, this is the book for you!
