Culture=Religion+Politics deals with the nexus of ecclesial authority and civil authority, at the individual citizen level. That means that it addresses the moral imperative right where it meets the secular law. If we are truly a nation of laws, in which the the laws are representative of the people, as in the original design of America, then we had better be a "good" people, if we are to have "good" law. Either the law we have is the law we made, or, either we, or our representative government, have been corrupted. Maybe both. The purpose of the book is to highlight untruth that is widely believed, in hope of pointing the way back to individual and national redemption.

This book is about human cultures, plural, and what makes each one distinct from every other one. It concentrates on the once distinct American culture, its changing nature, and the two major alien, un-American or anti-American cultures that are attacking it from within and without. The first thing that is necessary for a distinct and identifiable human culture is one common moral code that the overwhelming majorities of members voluntarily recognize and follow. Violators of the cultural moral code are universally recognized as outliers; anti-culture, anti-social outcasts, if not criminals. There are always violators of the cultural moral code, in every culture.
The originating source of any cultural moral code is, always, religion. Abandonment of religion always includes abandonment of any fixed moral code. It is the belief in the transcendent and in ultimate reward and punishment – ultimate justice – that moves members of an identifiable culture to embrace the rules for living – the moral code – that is born of the common religion. Again, there are always violators. Those who do not believe are not motivated to live within the moral constraints of the majority; they are, again, outliers from the larger community. But if they ever gain political power, they will act to the detriment of morality, which is to the detriment of the larger culture.
Politics organizes human culture around the predominant religious beliefs of the distinct human culture through civil government and civil law. The political arrangement that is most peaceful, successful and “civilized” establishes civil law that is based upon, supports and reinforces the strong moral code of the religion of the culture. Then, civil law is voluntarily and willingly supported and obeyed by the citizenry. Again, with violators and criminals being the outliers on the fringes of the larger culture.
An irreligious culture persists only through applied political force. Absent a fixed moral code voluntarily adhered to by the majority, culture itself breaks down, because the people within it become randomly oriented individualists. An uncivilized people invite and bring tyrannical government upon themselves, knowingly or otherwise.
The highest example of a civilizing moral code for human culture in world history is the Judeo-Christian ethos, born of Judeo-Christian religions. It spread from the Levant all around the Mediterranean and across Europe, first, through the Roman Catholic religion. After the cultural disaster of the Reformation Wars, which gave birth to strictly theocratic government and Protestant Denominationalism, it gave birth to America.
I submit that America, born of Western Civilization, has provided history’s best and highest example of a large successful human culture, purposely politically organized around a strong religious moral code of conduct. Although it didn’t end (and indeed may have fed) further denominational break-up, it did end theocratic government, and gave birth, or rebirth, to freedom of religion.
America’s founding document identified four human civil rights established in natural law, and therefore immune from and impervious to civil law. Its Constitution established a sphere of private human activity beyond the reach of government, and specifically protected the rights of the citizenry from their own government. It was the world’s first legally established classless society. The citizens were the sovereigns, and the government officials were servants of the people, not above them. All men – no exceptions – stood equal before the law. The Constitution itself – not any man or group of men – was the sole ruler of the nation.
A major part of the job of American government was to protect the American citizenry from the American government. That was unique, in the entire world.
But all of that has since been degraded, by the ascent of irreligious and immoral men to high office.
What is worse, the two most diametrically opposing cultural ideologies in existence – Marxism and Islam – are actually welcomed into American cultural society, growing and metastasizing within her borders, and even in charge of major aspects of government. It may be safely said that Marxism, in its many forms, now dominates in American education, news media and even representative government. And Islam is making similar inroads.
Unless these trends are reversed, and unless the Constitution itself is re-established as the supreme law of the land, America, as the world has known her, is doomed. That’s what this book is about.
